The commander of the fire station in Zvecan: The biggest floods in the last 50 years
Due to the heavy rainfall that lasts more than 15 hours in the north of Kosovo, torrential streams are causing great problems for the residents in the north, especially in the municipality of Zvecan, where streams and rivers overflowed, and the most difficult situation is in the villages of Josevik and Zerovnica, where the water reached the houses. As the commander of the fire station in Zvecan, Vladan Radomirovic told Kosovo Online, this situation was the most difficult in the last 50 years.
There are road cleaning and maintenance services on the ground, as well as firefighting units, which are trying to reduce the damage and protect buildings and households with additional embankments.
The commander of the fire station in Zvecan, Vladan Radomirovic, said that even the oldest residents of Zvecan did not remember this kind of situation with floods.
"The situation is the most difficult in the last 50 years. We have concerning problems with floods, and the level of the river Ibar is rising at almost all points. We are all at risk. More than 50 houses were flooded, currently, the worst is in Grabovac where there was a big landslide that also uprooted the electric poles, it's lucky that the electric poles didn't fall on the houses, because there would have been casualties. We are trying and all the teams are engaged, but we cannot achieve everything because we are constantly receiving new reports from citizens," Radomirovic said.
