The Eparchy of Raska and Prizren: We are sorrowed by the reaction of Ceku; there are no legal reasons for banning the arrival of Djokovic
The Eparchy of Raska and Prizren announced that it was "deeply sorrowed by the tweet of Kosovo's Minister of Culture and Sports Hajrulla Ceku that it was not legally possible for the world's best tennis player Novak Djokovic to come to Kosovo and Metohija because he had not received the vaccine against covid", although, as they note, this legal obligation has not been in force for over a year.
Novak Djokovic, let's remind you, expressed his desire to baptize his children in Kosovo, after which Ceku announced on Twitter with the message: "No vaccine - no entry".
"We wonder what chances for peace and understanding in Kosovo and Metohija are being sent by an official of the Kosovo government, namely the Minister of Culture and Sports when he misinterpreted Novak Djokovic's statement with an inappropriate comment on social networks, who said in his interview for Corriere della Sera: "I don't want to engage in politics, but for every Serb, Kosovo is the heart, it is the center of our culture, our identity, our tradition, our faith", and all in the context of his publicly expressed desire to baptize his children in Kosovo and Metohija", it was stated in the announcement on the website of the Eparchy of Raska and Prizren.
They add "that they pray to God that this issue is resolved in accordance with the right of free movement of all citizens and religious freedom because there are no legal reasons for banning the entry of Djokovic, who is appreciated as an athlete by many Kosovo Albanians."
"It is important to note that the bearers of the message of peace, such as His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije and Novak Djokovic, only contribute to the coexistence of Albanians, Serbs, and other people by bringing blessings for all those who live here," the statement said.
