The executive director of the non-governmental organization "Aktiv" from North Mitrovica, Miodrag Milicevic, announced that the organization was launching a telephone line through which citizens moving to Jarinje and Brnjak checkpoints in the north of Kosovo will be able to report cases of harassment and inappropriate behavior by the Kosovo police, RTS reports.

The reason for this initiative is the case that happened to Milicevic a few days ago near the Jarinje checkpoint, when he was verbally insulted and physically attacked by members of the special police.

At a press conference in Pristina, Milicevic said that citizens who were moving towards the Jarinje and Brnjak crossings and experienced similar situations would be able to receive advice on how to proceed.

"We have no intention as an organization to replace the official police authorities in Kosovo, but we want to make it easier for citizens to communicate with official institutions and encourage them to report any incidents, mistreatment or unpleasant situations in which they believe that the police have violated their powers and that they reacted in an inappropriate way," Milicevic said.

The line will be open 24 hours a day, but will be functional only during the working hours of this organization, that is, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"After four in the afternoon, citizens can send a message, and we will call them the next day to explain the procedures and what they need to do," Milicevic explained.

A day after the incident, when he was punched by a police officer, Milicevic filed a complaint with the police inspectorate in Pristina.
