Miljan Adzic released from prison pending trial

Miljan Adzic (30) from Zvecan, who was arrested in December, last year at the Jarinje crossing, was released today pending trial, Milos Delevic, the defendant's lawyer, confirmed for Kosovo Online. He reminded that a few days ago, the Government of Serbia had submitted guarantees to the EULEX mission, with which they had requested that the arrested Serbs Miljan Adzic and Sladjan Trajkovic be released from detention.

Adzic is the second Serb to be released from detention in Kosovo after Dejan Pantic, who was released at the end of December, after protests by the Serbs in the north, barricades, and diplomatic action by official Belgrade.

The judicial panel of the Special Court in Pristina adopted a proposal to replace Adzic's judicial custody with a bail measure of 20,000 euros in order for him to be released pending trial. The money was collected, and Adzic was released.

Lawyer Milos Delevic points out that Miljan Adzic has just been released from prison, and that his only obligation is to appear at all hearings scheduled in court.

"After today's decision on bail, the family of Miljan Adzic managed to collect money and pay the amount of 20,000 euros so that he could be released and defend himself in further court proceedings," lawyer Delevic said.

Adzic is one of the three Serbs arrested in December last year, whose arrest was followed by barricades in the north of Kosovo. He is charged with an alleged assault on an official. Adzic was arrested on December 9 at the Jarinje administrative crossing when he was returning from central Serbia with his wife and minor child.
