Great Britain's ambassador to Albania, Alastair King-Smith, announced today that, after former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, other Albanian politicians and businessmen would be added to the list of those sanctioned, the Albanian Post reports.

He made this statement during a visit to Elbasan following accusations made by former Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who said that the British diplomat had been the main ally of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj and that he demanded the annulment of the Albanian opposition.

Berisha also said of American Ambassador Yuri Kim that she is "the twin sister of former FBI member Charles McGonigal", who had been accused of having a relationship with a Russian oligarch and making false statements in the US, and who had had meetings with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Berisha was initially sanctioned and declared persona non grata by the US State Department, on charges of corruption at high levels in the country, and then Great Britain declared him persona non grata in July 2022, as part of the harmonization of sanctions policy with the US.

Now, according to Ambassador King-Smith, sanctions would be introduced against other Albanian politicians and businessmen.

But their names have not been released yet.
