The Head of EULEX, Giovanni Pietro Barbano, condemned the excessive use of force that, as he stated, a member of the Kosovo Police used today against a Serbian boy in North Mitrovica.

Barbano wrote on the social network “X” that he was shocked by what happened and that he conveyed his concern to the Kosovo Police.

“I am deeply shocked and condemn the excessive use of force demonstrated today by a member of the Kosovo Police against a boy in North Mitrovica. I expressed my concern to the leadership of the Kosovo Police and am confident that those responsible for this unacceptable act will be held accountable in accordance with the rule of law,” Barbano wrote on “X”.

According to videos circulating on social media, today’s incident took place in the pedestrian zone of North Mitrovica, near the main bridge on the Ibar River. The footage shows a Kosovo Police officer attacking a Serbian high school student, grabbing him multiple times by the neck area.

High school seniors were celebrating the end of the school year today, and while they were walking through the promenade, the videos show that Albanians sitting in nearby cafes were jeering at them and making the double-headed eagle hand gesture.
