Bisevac: Decision on land reallocation in Mikronaselje contrary to the interests of the Serbian Community
Member of the Presidency of the Serb List Nemanja Bisevac stated that the decision of the Municipal Assembly of North Mitrovica to reallocate agricultural land in Mikronaselje into construction land, in order to build a school for students of Albanian nationality, once again disregards the ministry’s recommendation that no such decisions be taken following the announcement of local elections.
Speaking to Kosovo Online, Bisevac said that the site in question has for nearly a decade been home to a children’s playground, built with European Union funds through the “Green Mitrovica” project.
“At yesterday’s session of the Municipal Assembly, a decision was made to reallocate the land. This space, where we stand today, and where between 2015 and 2017, within the framework of the EU-funded ‘Green Mitrovica’ project, a children’s playground was built, has now been designated by an illegal and illegitimate assembly as the site for the construction of a school for Albanian students,” Bisevac stated.
He expressed confidence that, following the local elections scheduled for October 12, legally and legitimately elected representatives will annul all decisions that, as he put it, run counter to the interests of the majority community living in this area.
“Once again, they disregarded the recommendation of the competent ministry that, from the moment elections are announced, decisions of this kind should not be adopted. What is certain is that, in the period ahead, legally and legitimately elected representatives and councilors will annul all decisions that are not in line with the interests of the people living in this area,” Bisevac emphasized.
