Bisevac: Kurti is using children and the school in Mikronaselje in his election campaign for South Mitrovica
After the acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Svecla, and the outgoing Mayor of North Mitrovica, Erden Atiq, laid the foundation stone for a new school on the children’s playground in Mikronaselje, member of the Presidency of the Serb List Nemanja Bisevac stated that the Self-Determination Movement is using the construction of the school in the north as part of its election campaign in South Mitrovica ahead of the second round of local elections. Bisevac said that after the Serb List’s victory, all decisions made to the detriment of the citizens, including this one on land-use conversion, would be changed.
“After Kurti’s fake mayor suffered a debacle in the local elections, he personally got involved in the campaign of his ally who is running in South Mitrovica, by deciding to change the purpose of the land,” Bisevac, who is also an elected councilor of the Serb List in the North Mitrovica Municipal Assembly, told Kosovo Online.
He reminded that all decisions on land-use conversion have been neither legal nor legitimate since the announcement of local elections.
“Our people must be sure that after the convincing victory of the Serb List in the local elections, we will annul all decisions that harm the interests of the people,” Bisevac stressed.
He added that using children for political purposes is reprehensible.
“It is also shameful that Kurti’s associates have continued to use children in their campaign, which is against all laws. What is especially absurd is that the foundation stone for the construction of this school was laid by Xhelal Svecla himself, who is both a member of parliament and the acting Minister of Internal Affairs. That is contrary to the law and shows just how much respect that minister has for the law,” Bisevac said.
The foundation stone for the new building was laid yesterday by Kosovo’s acting Ministers of Internal Affairs and Local Government Administration, Xhelal Svecla and Elbert Krasniqi, together with the outgoing Mayor of North Mitrovica, Erden Atiq, in the presence of Self-Determination’s candidate for Mayor of South Mitrovica, Faton Peci.
The ceremony was preceded by a decision of the local assembly to convert the playground land, which had been built with EU funds, into construction land, a move previously condemned by the Serb List.
During yesterday’s event, construction machinery was brought onto the playground site, though the machines were no longer there today.
In order for the machinery to access the playground, workers cut and removed the church gate that had stood for years on the path leading to the Church of Saint Demetrius.
