Cavoli: KFOR Reserve Units deployed in Kosovo due to rising tensions

The Commander of NATO’s Allied Forces in Europe, U.S. General Christopher Cavoli, stated that KFOR currently has 4,300 troops deployed on the ground in Kosovo, but that reserve units have also been deployed to cope with rising tensions, reports Indeks Online.

"As you know, KFOR in Kosovo consists of 4,300 troops, fewer than 600 of whom are American. The Italians have taken on a large share of the mission's burden. We have also deployed reserve forces to deal with the rising tensions, which have been present for over a year," Cavoli said before the U.S. Senate.

He added that the number of permanent forces is being increased in order to free up the reserve forces.

"I believe we will soon reach an agreement on this," Cavoli said.

He further noted that, alongside Italy, key nations participating in the KFOR mission include Turkey, the United Kingdom, and Hungary.
