Covic: Pristina causes tensions; the West ignores it and shifts its focus to the barricades

The former Vice President of the Government of Serbia and the former President of the Coordination Center for Kosovo, Nebojsa Covic assessed that repression was happening in Kosovo, through which the ethnic cleansing of the Serbian national community was carried out, Danas reports.

Covic added that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti behaved like that because the US allowed him to do so, as well as Germany and France.

"The situation in Kosovo and Metohija is a product of the intention of certain international structures, primarily the Americans, then the Germans and the French, who allowed Kurti to behave the way he does. Down here, we have direct repression through which the ethnic cleansing of the Serbian national community is carried out. That means that the repression can escalate and it is gradually escalating," Covic assesses.

He points out that Pristina constantly has "feints" aimed at raising tensions.

"They always have, so to say, flexible feints, such as the feint that Vjosa Osmani calls elections, and knows that he will not hold them, and then postpones the elections to April, but at the same time raises tensions, and after that, those tensions result in the entry of ROSU units with rifles; then we have repression down in Velika Hoca, and then you get to the north of Kosovo and Metohija and the very provocations of 200, 300 armed special forces, and then to the arrest of innocent people, and then you have tension," Covic points out.

He says that the West ignores all this and tries to shift the focus to the barricades.

"And of course, now we are in the second act in which the barricades appear, now they can declare that the Serbs are actually to blame, that the biggest problem is the barricades, and not the cause that led to the barricades, and not the wave of fraud that has been going on since 1999 with various agreements through which they buy time, they take away our sovereignty and push it towards some kind of goal," Covic points out.

He indicates that the solution lies in the direct implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1244, but that the West discredits and does not recognize it.

Asked about the Franco-German proposal, he stated that it violated our Constitution and the UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

"As for the Franco-German proposal, it is nonsense, it cannot be implemented at any point because it violates our Constitution and the UN Security Council Resolution 1244 from beginning to end, in all 10 points or as many as there are. You know, for them, when a resolution is needed, they refer to it, and in this situation, they disqualify and discredit it," he said.

He states that Serbia should demand the immediate release of all innocently arrested people in the territory of Kosovo; the immediate withdrawal of ROSU from the north of Kosovo, and the immediate abolition of the KFS, which, as he adds, could not be done according to any document, and the immediate formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, but according to the original document.

"In the Brussels Agreement, there is one of the 15 points in which it is said that the dynamics will be determined by April 26, 2013, and that was the deadline for the formation of such an original Community of Serb-majority Municipalities. Let's not exaggerate, it doesn’t need to be the end of this year, let it be January 31, 2023, but I am absolutely sure that neither Kurti nor they will ever form the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities," Covic assesses.
