Dacic: Kurti will try to provoke new escalation
Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic stated on TV Prva that Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti would attempt again to provoke incidents and escalation, and that despite Kurti constantly accusing Belgrade of obstruction, it should be clear to everyone that Serbia was the constructive factor.
"He will certainly try to create new incidents and escalations and then return to calming things down. His goal is to keep us spinning in circles, constantly accusing Belgrade of obstruction. I think it should be clear to everyone that Serbia is the constructive factor," Dacic said.
He added that refusing to implement what had been signed ten years ago questioned the credibility of the European Union as an institution that should mediate in the dialogue.
"If you have such leadership that refuses to implement what was signed ten years ago, and if the international community remains silent about it, then we are really not ready for that kind of blackmail," Dacic emphasized.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also commented on accusations from Pristina against Petar Petkovic, whom they linked to Civil Protection, an organization that Pristina considers a terrorist organization.
"They start from the premise that Kosovo is an independent state. They can say that Radoicic or anyone else is a terrorist, but you know what, the leadership of Pristina didn't come from an academy or Tibet; they came from the woods, from uniforms. They were terrorists that even the United States labeled as a terrorist group, the KLA. And what happened then? Holbrooke and others sat down with them and talked to them. Why don't they sit down with Radoicic now? Instead, they are considered terrorists. When it comes to Serbs, they are terrorists. Those are double standards, not the Civil Protection," Dacic said.
He is convinced that Pristina will not calm down until Kosovo enters the UN and receives de facto or de jure recognition.
"We went with the Brussels Agreement with the intention of transforming the institutions of Serbia into institutions of the Serbian people in Kosovo through the CSM. They didn't do that and are trying to legalize everything through this kind of Kurti's statements. But they won't calm down; nothing satisfies them; nothing will calm them down until they become part of the UN. That is why we need to look at what their main point is. It is de facto or de jure recognition and Kosovo's membership in the UN and other specialized agencies within the UN system. And, I am sure, that will not happen," Dacic concluded.
