The Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic said today that Belgrade would not allow Pristina's membership in the Council of Europe without a fight, Pink reports.
After a meeting with his colleague from Iceland, Thordis Kolbrun R. Gylfadottir, whose country is to take over the presidency of the Council of Europe, Dacic stated for Tanjug that he warned about the complexity of Pristina's membership in the Council of Europe.
"The question of Pristina's membership destroys all the principles we adhere to when it comes to the territorial integrity of Ukraine," Dacic said and noted that such an important issue would be decided for the first time by overvoting or by mutual accusations, not by consensus.
When it came to cooperation with Iceland, Dacic noted that more work needed to be done to deepen mutual relations.
"They have some different problems. I would be happy if the main problem in our region was fishing, which was the main problem for them, for which they gave up the EU membership," Dacic said.
He also stated that the meaning of the existence of an organization such as the OSCE (The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) was slowly being lost.
He said that he was ready to applaud when it was said at the summit that Crimea and Donetsk were part of Ukraine and pointed out that Serbia respected the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
"I will say that Kosovo is Serbia, but I am not sure that I will get the same applause. That speaks volumes about double standards," Dacic emphasized.
