Djuric meets with Congressman Self to discuss the difficult situation of Serbs in Kosovo

Serbia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marko Djuric, began his three-day visit to the United States with a meeting with Keith Self, a member of the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs, with whom he discussed, among other topics, the situation of Serbs in Kosovo.

According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Minister Djuric spoke about the extremely difficult circumstances facing the Serbian community and the increasingly frequent unilateral actions by Pristina, underscoring the necessity of ensuring the fundamental rights and security of the Serbian people.

During the meeting, the Serbian Foreign Minister and Congressman Self also exchanged views on issues of importance for bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Minister Djuric expressed satisfaction that, in the preceding period, a good pace of communication had been maintained with members of the U.S. Congress, noting that this represents a very important component of the political dialogue with that key legislative body of the United States.
In the part of the discussion devoted to regional matters, Minister Djuric emphasized that Serbia will continue to act as a factor of stability in the region and remains committed to dialogue and the peaceful resolution of all outstanding issues.

The interlocutors also touched upon the current geopolitical situation and Serbia’s position within that context, the statement said.
