The Ambassador of Kosovo in Washington, Ilir Dugolli, made it known in the annual report that he sent to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gervalla that the bilateral relations between Kosovo and the United States of America were good, but not as usual, Lajmi writes.

In the part of the report in which Dugolli describes the provision of meetings in the framework of political cooperation and strategic dialogue, he points out that they have constantly updated the requests for meetings, but that only "half-hearted commitment" has been shown by the US authorities.

"One of the most important aspects of improving bilateral relations, as well as defining the official framework of cooperation, remains the strategic partnership initiative. After the official submission of the request six months ago, this request is continuously updated. We managed to get a semi-commitment from the American authorities to hold the meeting during the next year, despite obvious hesitation," Dugolli wrote in the report.

He says that after the events of the last months, the American side took a more negative attitude than usual.

"Following the developments of the last few months, every time we have updated this request, the US side has taken a more negative stance than usual. Despite the current mood, this is one of the points that should continue to be updated in any case," Dugolli wrote.

The report referred to in this portal is dated December 18, 2022.

As it is added, in the part in which Dugolli reported on communication with the host country, he stated that during 2022, a series of high-level communications had been organized, either through agreed visits of high officials of Kosovo or through other forms. However, he said that at the level of states and local authorities, except for some visits, it was impossible to hold any meeting.

"At the level of states and local authorities (except for Washington and those conducted as part of high-level visits) it was impossible to hold any meeting, so this point requires increased attention in the coming years," Dugolli said.

Lajmi recalls that until now Kurti's government has always denied that relations with the United States of America have weakened due to the events in Kosovo, while the opposition accuses the government of reducing relations with international partners to the lowest level ever.
