Elshani: As of today, I am head of the Border Police

Veton Elshani, until now Deputy Regional Commander of the Kosovo Police for the north, has assumed a new position as of today, having been appointed head of the Kosovo Border Police Department. Elshani confirmed to Kosovo Online that he was taking over the post after more than three and a half years with the Kosovo Police Regional Directorate in northern Kosovo.

“As of today, I am head of the Kosovo Border Police. I expect Petrit Fejza to take over my previous position as Deputy Commander of the Kosovo Police for the northern region. We are awaiting confirmation from Pristina,” Elshani said.

Petrit Fejza has until now served as Head of Operations for the Kosovo Police in the northern region and has also served as Elshani’s deputy.

Before being assigned to northern Kosovo, Elshani served as Deputy Director of the Regional Police Directorate in Pec, was a Kosovo Police spokesperson in Pristina, and also worked in international police cooperation.

His departure comes at a time when the position of Regional Police Commander for the north remains unfilled in accordance with the provisions of the 2013 Brussels Agreement, which stipulates that the post should be held by a member of the Serbian community.
