Fetoshi: The agreement on the license plates is the result of Kosovo’s serious tactical error

University professor Arben Fetoshi indicated that the agreement reached in Brussels between Belgrade and Pristina on license plates was the result of a serious tactical error by Kosovo, Teve 1 reports.

"The de-escalation of the situation in the north is good news, but the agreement reached in Brussels by the two main negotiators is the result of a serious tactical error by Kosovo, which seriously set back our position in the dialogue process. That made Kosovo's position in this process more difficult and heralded a very difficult and complicated dialogue phase in terms of solving the general framework for the final agreement. We will face difficulties with the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities first, and that will be the main challenge for Kurti," Fetoshi stated.

In his opinion, the Kosovo government should have accepted the US proposal and postponed the deadline for license plates.

"The agreement, which is a serious setback, cannot be called an achievement. Kurti will try to use utilitarian language to justify what he did in Brussels. If the US recommendation on postponing the deadline for license plates had been followed, believe me, it would have been better for us as a country. The framework agreement would have passed in Belgrade, and we would have an advantage," Fetoshi concluded.
