The flagpole with the Serbian tricolor flag was removed from the Zvecan Fortress
The flagpole with the Serbian tricolor flag, which was located at the Zvecan Fortress, was removed during the night, and it is currently unknown who did it.
This is another in a series of removals of Serbian symbols from northern Kosovo in recent weeks. Recently, Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Svecla and Minister of Local Government Elbert Krasniqi removed two billboards in the north, one displaying the Serbian flag and the other honoring citizens of Zvecan.
On January 25, when he attended the removal of billboards featuring honorary citizens of Zvecan Aleksandar Vucic, Marko Djuric, Vladimir Putin, Novak Djokovic... Svecla posted a video on his Facebook account.
"The only symbol of Serbia in Kosovo will be its embassy in Pristina," Svecla stated at the time.
He reiterated a similar sentiment when three municipalities within the Serbian system - the Municipality of Klina, the Municipality of Istok, and the Municipality of Pec - were closed.
"The era of lawlessness is over, and the only institution of Serbia within Kosovo will be its embassy in Pristina," he emphasized in a Facebook post.
