Gogic: The announced meeting in Brussels does not bring anything new, without progress in the dialogue

The announced meeting between Kosovo and Serbia on September 14 in Brussels will not bring anything new, and there will be no progress in the dialogue and resolution of the crisis in the north of Kosovo, according to political scientist Ognjen Gogic, reports RTK.

As Gogic has stated, the agenda of that meeting is still unknown.

According to him, the situation in the north is currently calm, but not resolved.

"It is not yet known whether it will be a meeting at the highest level or a meeting of technical teams, whether there will be direct talks or whether there will be separate meetings. We do not know, nor the agenda. We can only assume that the crisis in the north of Kosovo is included in the agenda which has not yet been resolved. We have had the same situation for several months, the situation on the ground has calmed down, but no essential steps have been taken towards stabilization and a return to a normal state," Gogic points out.

He assumes that this will be the first item on the agenda of the upcoming meeting.

"To discuss how far we have come with that and why the de-escalation as defined by the EU that should have happened at the beginning of July, to withdraw the special police forces from municipal buildings and to hold local elections in the north, has not yet occurred. there are still no significant developments," says Gogic.

He reminds that there have been situations before, when there were current crises, and other matters were dealt with within the dialogue, such as the Declaration on the Missing or the Energy Agreement.

"So it is possible that they will talk about some other things that are not related to the crisis in the north, and that the crisis will continue," said Gogic.

Gogic pointed out that there were not too many expectations from the dialogue in the coming period, as well as from the announced meeting.
