Haliti: Kurti will use the refusal to establish the CSM as a trump card for the next elections

Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Xhavit Haliti believes that Prime Minister Albin Kurti will use the issue of the Community of Serb Municipalities to enter new elections if he resigns, using this matter to win again, Gazeta Express reports.

He says that the CSM Statute has not been handed to Kurti, but he has been asked to initiate the procedures for its establishment, and he has also been provided with an agenda containing relevant dates for the start of the implementation of the Franco-German plan and the obligations undertaken in Ohrid.

Haliti also says that the meeting between Kurti and Aleksandar Vucic will be very challenging, especially after what happened in the north following the elections in four municipalities and the events of September 24 in Banjska.

"If they meet without an investigative report from law enforcement agencies and there is no reliable international investigation report, it will be very difficult to reach any agreement," Haliti said.

Regarding the CSM, Haliti says it is a bargaining chip for Albin Kurti in the upcoming elections.

"If they pressure him, he will step down from power to avoid establishing the CSM and enter the elections with this motto to win them again," the former Deputy Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly says.

Concerning the repeat of local elections, Haliti states that a multilateral agreement must be reached to guarantee the participation of Serbs in the elections.

"As for the elections, a multilateral agreement must be reached to ensure the participation of Serbian citizens in the elections. In the meantime, the mayors of the four municipalities must bring verified and signed agreements stating that, if Serbian citizens do not turn out to vote, there will be no vacuum in the institutional functioning of the municipalities because there is a possibility of chaos," Haliti said.
