Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Skender Hyseni, before the meeting in Brussels, assesses that Kosovo with the current government has lost an ideal opportunity to strengthen its negotiating position and partnership with the US and the EU, adding that tomorrow is a day that brings a lot of worries and uncertainty.

In a post on Facebook, Hyseni states that Albin Kurti and Vjosa Osmani, with their self-centered and adventurous approach to the dialogue with Serbia, severely damaged and undermined Kosovo's position in relation to the international community, especially the American administration, while they strengthened Serbia's position in international relations like never before.

Hyseni explains that Kurti and Osmani's reading and interpretation of the development of the international context created by the Russian aggression in Ukraine and other geostrategic events in the world is deeply wrong.

“So, let it be understood that as a result of the disastrous policy of Kurtii and Osmani, Kosovo today, that is, tomorrow in Brussels, is facing a big dilemma, to accept the European plan and the entire package that goes with it, or to reject that plan and threaten the very existence of the country," Hyseni pointed out.

Hyseni notes that there are no repeated trials in politics.

"With this leadership, Kosovo has lost an ideal opportunity to strengthen its negotiating position and partnership with the US and the EU. Kosovo is paying the price of the revolutionaries Kurti and Osmani. The normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia remains crucial for the stability of the region and the avoidance of conflict. At the same time, the European plan, which is also supported by the American administration, will open the door for the political and economic integration of Kosovo into the EU. The acceptance and implementation of this plan will create an essential precondition for stability in the entire Western Balkans," Hyseni said.

Hyseni notes that the culprit for the fact that Kosovo is in this dilemma should be sought in the thoughtless, egocentric, selfish, and childish politics of Kurti and Osmani.

"So here we are! We should not miss the opportunity for Kurti to agree with the European proposal on February 27, and to have the full support of the American administration. It is not a perfect solution, but it is a mutual solution, a big step towards mutual recognition, which will necessarily happen after some time. The consequences of refusal are unfathomable," Hyseni said.
