The mayor of Strpce, Dalibor Jevtic, met today with the citizens of this municipality, with whom he discussed the security situation, and then he conveyed the conclusions from this meeting to the KFOR commander for the West region, Colonel Ivano Marotta.

"My conclusion is that the situation is very difficult and serious. I am particularly concerned about the continuation of the narrative surrounding the events of January 6 and the attempt to justify the murder of a boy and a young man. I conveyed this to the KFOR commander for the West region. The meeting was long and detailed. I have all the concerns and information that citizens have. I asked KFOR to increase its presence, understanding the capacity level of their presence in general. They will increase their presence accordingly," Jevtic told TV Herc.

On the other hand, as he added, the Kosovo Police would be required to increase patrols in the vicinity of schools in addition to permanent checkpoints when classes started.

"To increase patrols where children are waiting for public transportation to go to school and at the time when children return from school. These were the demands of the citizens," Jevtic said.

As he reported, conclusions and requests had been made at the meeting with the citizens, which would be sent to KFOR and the Kosovo Police, and it was about concerns related not only to security but also to some other issues.

"We also agreed that in the coming days, each of the places in the territory of the municipality of Strpce will elect three to five representatives who will regularly hold meetings with me and my associates on all the topics that they will be running for. We, as the municipality of Strpce, had the idea to call an extraordinary Assembly session, however, the citizens asked to organize a meeting with them. Today and tomorrow I will continue to hold talks with people who could and should help to overcome this whole situation and to ensure security and peace for our citizens, and peace is, after all, our greatest interest," Jevtic said.
