The Judicial Council of Kosovo condemned Kurti's statement: Interference is unacceptable, court decisions must be respected

Following Prime Minister Albin Kurti's statement that he was interested in the name of the judge and the name of the prosecutor who made the decision to house arrest former policeman Dejan Pantic, the Kosovo Judicial Council expressed concern and added that court decisions must be respected without comment, without exception, including the Government, Koha reports.

In the JC’s announcement, it is stated that judges must be independent in the performance of their constitutional and legal duties, while "tendencies for interference are unacceptable and as such are met with harsh condemnation".

"Regarding Prime Minister Kurti's question about the name of the judge who decided in this case, the Judicial Council publicly informs Prime Minister Kurti that based on the Constitution and the law, the competent official who made this decision is called a Kosovo judge whose decisions must be respected without comment, without exception , including the Government," the JC’s press release states.
