Konrad: I hope for good decisions in Brussels
German Ambassador to Serbia Anke Konrad tells Kosovo Online that it is very important for all previous agreements between Kosovo and Serbia to be implemented and adds that she expects “good decisions“ to be made in Brussels today, especially those concerning the dinar, so that “people can live their lives“.
“This applies to the Brussels Agreement from 2013 and to the agreements concluded afterward, and of course to the decisions made in Brussels almost a year ago as well as those in Ohrid,“ Konrad states.
According to her, this is important for everyone in Kosovo and Serbia, and now especially for those living in northern Kosovo, because, she emphasizes, the normalization of relations will not only ease life for many people in the region but will also contribute to any future development.
“We see that constant tensions are not good for any side, especially not for the people living there. There must be consequences for not implementing the agreements, and I think they should be at the center of attention, guided by those who make political decisions in the progress of implementing the agreements,“ Konrad states.
The Ambassador adds that she hopes good decisions will be made, not only today at the meeting in Brussels that specifically concerns the dinar but also in other important aspects such as the establishment of the CSM, which will restore normal life in northern Kosovo and contribute to the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
“As for the issue of the dinar, today we have discussions in Brussels, and I hope they will lead to a solution that will enable people to access money, so they can live their lives without despair. We hope that these discussions will be fruitful and that they will at least show the way to resolve this issue. Because for us, this is of paramount importance for the normalization of relations in northern Kosovo,“ Konrad concludes.
