Kurti respects Rasic for his "correctness and determination"
Today, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, appointed the president of the Progressive Democratic Party, Nenad Rasic, as Minister for Communities and Returns, and at that time he said that he had always appreciated Rasic, Gazeta Express reports.
In 2020, during the first convocation of Albin Kurti's government, Rasic was appointed as the advisor to the Prime Minister in the Office for Communities. He resigned in April of the same year after an indictment had been filed against him.
Kurti then made an appearance with Rasic at the press conference.
"I have always appreciated him and I respect him for his correctness and determination, I am convinced that he also contributed to Kosovo and the citizens of Serbia," Kurti said at the time.
He also said at the time that he had been convinced that Rasic was not guilty of what he had been accused of.
"I believe in the innocence of Nenad Rasic. This is about the old processes of the government in Kosovo. And it is about indictments when it is not managers who are accused, but people who are there in the third and fourth level and always in order to avoid the core of the problem. Today, Mr. Rasic handed me his resignation, I regretfully accepted it", Kurti said at the time.
Meanwhile, Rasic stated that he had been sorry that it had happened and pleaded not guilty.
The indictment that was filed against Rasic and others accused them of the abuse of their position in connection with four hydroelectric power plants during the privatization of the Kosovo Energy Corporation.
A few days ago, the court of general jurisdiction in Pristina decided to release four former government ministers, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, Nenad Rasic, Besim Beqaj, Dardan Gashi, as well as Fllanza Hoxha, and Arben Duka.
Today, Kurti appointed Rasic as the Minister for Communities and Returns. That position has been vacant since the previous minister and president of the Serb List, Goran Rakic, resigned at the moment when political representatives of Serbs left Kosovo institutions, as well as the Serbs from the north of Kosovo, due to the Kosovo government's decision on license plates.
Rasic's list, Civic Initiative for Freedom, Justice, and Survival in the last parliamentary elections, according to the results published by the Central Election Commission, won 1,508 votes or 0.173 percent throughout Kosovo. In the same elections, the Serb List had 44,407 votes. The president of the European Movement of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija, Rada Trajkovic, was also on Rasic's list in those elections.
