Lajcak: It is necessary for both parties to fully implement the agreements without conditions or delays

The EU Special Envoy for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Miroslav Lajcak, summarizing the working week, reminded that before the meeting at the highest level in Brussels, which would be held on September 14, between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, all agreements in the dialogue remained valid and binding for both parties and that they had to be fully implemented without any conditions or delays.

Lajcak stated on Facebook that last week he had met with the Prime Minister of Kosovo as a part of the Bled Strategic Forum and that he then had traveled to Belgrade where he had spoken with President Vucic.

According to reports, he discussed with Kurti the preparations for the next high-level meeting as a part of the dialogue with a focus on the normalization of relations and the implementation of the EU statement of June 3.

"I also expressed my concern about the situation in the north of Kosovo," Lajcak wrote.

According to him, he discussed in detail with President Vucic efforts to reduce tensions and hold new local elections in the north of Kosovo, as well as the implementation of all agreements reached within the dialogue.

"Our discussions will continue and we are preparing for the leaders' meeting in Brussels on September 14," Lajcak said.

He recalled that he had started the week by participating in the European Forum in Alpbach, where, as he stated, he had discussed the need for Europe to be "bold" with experts, colleagues, friends, and above all young people.

Commenting on his participation in the Bled Strategic Forum, Lajcak states that the traditional panel of the Western Balkans focused on the question of whether the EU is ready for enlargement.

"I emphasized that the EU is ready for the Western Balkans, but that the region needs to do its part," he said.
