Professor of philosophy and political analyst Blerim Latifi pointed out that according to the agreement reached on Monday in Brussels between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, with the mediation of the European Union, Serbia received the CSM, the strengthening of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo, and the lifting of pressure to de jure recognize Kosovo's independence.

In a Facebook post, Latifi claims that the European Union fought for the stability of the Western Balkans, which he describes as a major setback for Russia, which has long sought to destabilize the Balkans by rekindling unresolved conflicts.

"Serbia got the Association, under a different name, greater strengthening of the Serbian Church in Kosovo, and lifting of pressure to de jure recognize the independence of Kosovo. Kosovo has received some elements of de facto recognition from Serbia and a promise to open the way to membership in international organizations," Latifi wrote.

He adds that the fulfillment of those promises is uncertain, because the obstacles for Kosovo do not refer to Serbia but to Russia, China, and other important countries that insist on not recognizing Kosovo.

"Since they are not part of this agreement, there is no guarantee that those countries will change their stance in favor of Kosovo. Ultimately, we will continue to live as an unfinished state for years to come," Latifi stated.
