Dusan Obrenovic, who was arrested on May 29th in Zvecan, has been released today. His lawyer, Predrag Miljkovic, told Kosovo Online that Obrenovic's detention measure had been replaced by a bail measure, and after the proposed amount had been paid, he had arrived home in Kosovska Mitrovica from the prison in Podujevo.

"After six months today, the Special Court adopted and issued a decision replacing the detention measure with bail for Dusan Obrenovic. Today, we deposited the proposed amount, and around 4 pm, I went to Podujevo and finally, conditionally speaking, took Dusan Obrenovic and brought him to his hometown, Kosovska Mitrovica", Miljkovic said.

The lawyer emphasizes that Obrenovic's release was a very emotional moment.

"This was a very demanding case, and it probably will be. I am glad that he is finally with his sister. I know how strongly people were with him, and we are grateful to everyone for the help and support they provided us during these six months", Miljkovic said.

Obrenovic was arrested before the outbreak of riots in Zvecan on May 29, accused of attacking KFOR and Kosovo Police officers.

The court in Pristina extended his detention for another two months on October 30, marking the fourth extension of his detention.

During his detention, members of the Kosovo Police brutally beat him, and after the detention order, he was transferred to the prison in Podujevo.

Dejan Pavicevic, the liaison officer between Belgrade and Pristina, previously stated that Obrenovic and Rados Petrovic had been detained despite evidence that they had not participated in any way in the riots on May 29 in Zvecan, as KFOR had taken them away 20 minutes before it all had started.

Rados Petrovic was released on June 23.
