Lawyer Miljkovic: Obrenovic's detention extended for two more months
The Pristina Court has extended the detention of Dusan Obrenovic for two more months, as his lawyer Predrag Miljkovic confirmed to Kosovo Online.
Miljkovic stated in a telephone statement to Kosovo Online that he would file an appeal to the Court of Appeals.
"Yesterday, I received the decision to extend Dusan Obrenovic's detention for two more months. I will file an appeal to the Court of Appeals, and I hope they will make a fair assessment of the conditions for his release from custody," Miljkovic confirmed.
Obrenovic was arrested before the outbreak of unrest in Zvecan on May 29. After his arrest, he was handed over to the Kosovo Police by KFOR, together with Rados Petrovic.
During police detention, Dusan Obrenovic was brutally beaten by the Kosovo police. After being placed in custody, he was transferred to the prison in Podujevo, where he is still being held.
Obrenovic still bears visible signs of the beating
Belgrade and Pristina Liaison Officer Dejan Pavicevic recently reminded that Rados Petrovic and Dusan Obrenovic, whom he visited in the prison unit, were arrested despite evidence that they were not involved in any way in the unrest in Zvecan on May 29, as KFOR took them away 20 minutes before it all started.
"People who have absolutely no connection to anything were arrested. KFOR took them away twenty minutes before the riots started. There are surveillance camera recordings, media footage as evidence. Dusan Obrenovic still bears visible signs of the beating. He has scars. We are talking about things that specifically happened to him three weeks ago," Pavicevic said for "Novosti" four days ago.
