Ljepojevic: Kurti does what the West says; Kosovo is a Western project
Foreign policy commentator Sinisa Ljepojevic said that the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, was doing what the West said because the whole of Kosovo was a project of the West, RTV reports.
In his statement to Tanjug, Ljepojevic noted that there was no progress in de-escalating the situation in Kosovo because the violence, which had led to the current crisis, was an instrument of pressure on Serbia. As he explains, it did not arise spontaneously, and the experience since 2004 shows that violence is generated in order to be used as an instrument of pressure on Serbia for some new concessions.
He adds that it is obvious that this model is no longer that effective, but it is also obvious that the political elite of Serbia has realized that it has to stop somewhere and that a minimum must be determined below which Serbia cannot go because, in the last fifteen year, Serbia made many concessions to the demands of the West when it comes to Kosovo.
"Kurti does what the West says, let's be clear, not Kurti but also those before him, that is simply the position of the Albanians because the whole of Kosovo is a Western project," he concluded and added that it was not realistic to expect any sanctions against Pristina, because basically, it was the policy of the West to instrumentalize pressure on Serbia through violence.
Ljepojevic believes that America would be happy to get rid of Kurti because he has already completed his mission, and that now someone else should come who could be an excuse for a new beginning.
As he said, the extent to which Kurti would go further and how long he could remain as Prime Minister depended on the assessment of what was best for American interests, but it was difficult to assess whether that assessment would be effective because, he emphasized, arrogance and misjudgment to allow an election where five people had voted could be seen.
"It is unclear what could happen next, I have already said what the goals are, the replacement of Kurti, but what will actually happen I cannot say because this situation - the elections in the north of Kosovo, that those on behalf of the Western countries dealing with Kosovo have gross misjudgments and a grossly arrogant attitude that epitomizes Kurti's behavior," he explained.
