Miftaraj: Self-determination does not plan to protect public money despite promises
Director of the Kosovo Institute of Justice Ehat Miftaraj explains that the fact that Self-Determination has not initiated the promised changes to the Salaries Law even after more than two years in power shows that it does not plan to protect public money, despite promises made during the election campaign, reports Gazeta Express.
"This approach of the party in power contradicts what they continuously proclaimed, i.e. promised that the money, the budget of Kosovo would be saved, spent in the right way, but practice proves the opposite. It seems that they are the biggest beneficiaries and that they have the greatest privileges since came to power, Prime Minister Kurti and the cabinet of his government", said Miftaraj.
Miftaraj reminds that Prime Minister Albin Kurti, after the end of his mandate, is guaranteed benefits by that law.
"As soon as he ends his mandate as prime minister or as soon as he is unable to hold high public functions, he will be guaranteed the benefits provided for by the law for the rest of his life," Miftaraj pointed out.
Miftaraj adds that the ruling party "made sure" that the salaries of ministers, deputy ministers and political advisers were increased.
"And this is always done to the detriment of other functions that are outside the government, such as the positions of judges, prosecutors, but also a large number of civil servants, whose salaries were reduced by the new law," Miftaraj concluded.
