The former mayor of the municipality of Zvecan, Dragisa Milovic, thanked the citizens today for the democratic protests and their determination to persevere in their demands and said that the Management Team is the only one competent to write the Statute of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities.

Milovic told Kosovo Online that the demands of the gathered citizens were justified and that the peaceful manner of the protest was proof that people had gathered to exercise their rights.

"It's the weekend, but the citizens have gathered today in front of the Zvecan municipality to peacefully and democratically express their dissatisfaction with the unilateral actions of Pristina and the already known events of May 26 and 29. Their persistence and determination are commendable. They are gathered in large numbers and in this rain, which means that they are determined to stay here until our demands are met," Milovic said.

He pointed out that every well-intentioned effort towards the formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities was appreciated, but that the Brussels Agreement had made it clear to everyone who should write the Statute of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities.

"For ten years, there was not even a word about the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, and now Edi Rama and some others are allegedly offering themselves in good faith. The Statute of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities can only be written by the Serbs in the Management Team and no one else. We appreciate the good intentions, but what was agreed in 2013 and 2015 in Brussels, where Brussels is the guarantor of the signed agreements, should be implemented in its original form," Milovic said.

He pointed out that the Serbs were committed to peace and that the events of the last few weeks had greatly disturbed the citizens of this municipality.

"We are committed to peace and calming down the current situation. You can see for yourself, our schools are surrounded by wire, and our children, high school graduates, celebrated their graduation night on the street in such extraordinary conditions. I would like to thank all the people of goodwill who support us all these days. I have to mention our brothers south of the Ibar, from Vienna, Canada, Republika Srpska. It just shows that we are on the right track to persevere in our justified reasons. We are not asking for anything more than what belongs to us," Milovic concluded.
