The violent raid on the Clinical Hospital Center in Kosovska Mitrovica that occurred this morning was just a continuation of the months-long torture that the Serbs living in Kosovo had been enduring, the Deputy Director of the healthcare institution and former mayor of the Zvecan municipality, Dragisa Milovic said.

Milovic emphasized that the intrusion into the Clinical Hospital Center Kosovska Mitrovica represented an attempt to, just as it is done with the Serbian Orthodox Church, link healthcare to alleged dishonorable actions.

"They are trying to involve the Serbian Orthodox Church in dishonorable activities, and now they are targeting healthcare. Clinical Hospital Center is the only multi-ethnic hospital in the urban environment where all other patients are treated - non-Albanians, Roma people, everyone. We are open to everyone," Milovic said at a press conference following the morning's intrusion by special units of the Kosovo Police into the healthcare institution.

Milovic recalled that they had received KFOR members a few days ago and answered all the questions that interested them.

"They also requested to visit the hospital, and they were at the internal medicine and surgical departments; we showed them our supplies of medicines and IV solutions, but all of that was irrelevant to them. Everything we talked about, the humanitarian catastrophe threatening us and the lack of medicines, none of that interests them. The emphasis is on tarnishing and besmirching the successful work of this healthcare center and accusing healthcare workers, just as is attempted with the Serbian Orthodox Church, of something that should be condemned and said to be bad," he stressed.

Milovic stated that all employees at the Clinical Hospital Center Kosovska Mitrovica would continue to do their jobs.

He noted that it was true that employees who had come to their workplaces were frightened, and he had seen women in tears.

He stated that it was also difficult for doctors to enter the operating room and save someone's life while seeing long guns.

"However, we will continue to work. These are difficult times, but I sincerely hope that we will overcome this as well because we repeat a thousand times that we live on our land, we have taken nothing from anyone else. This hospital is the pillar of survival for our fellow citizens. There is no hospital in Djakovica, Gnjilane, Prizren; all our colleagues and healthcare workers have been expelled from their jobs, and perhaps someone is trying to intimidate us in this way, to make us leave our workplaces. But we will continue to work," Milovic emphasized.

As he said, EULEX, which had been present this morning, showed no interest in all the events.

According to his words, EULEX members had no answers to the questions of the Clinical Hospital Center employees about what was happening.

"We don't need such EULEX. They weren't even at the place where the search was taking place. They could have stepped out of their vehicles, and one representative could have been present with the special units to see what was happening. We wanted to hear first what was happening, and I don't understand why they didn't get out of their cars, which were located 50 meters from the scene of the search. One or two of them should have been present and seen what was happening. Sitting in the car and not knowing what's happening. With such passivity, we don't need them," Milovic pointed out.

He repeated that the search had been conducted by special units of the Kosovo Police and ROSU with long guns, but he emphasized that there had also been civilians with automatic rifles.
