Momirovic in Brussels: Unacceptable for the EU to tolerate Pristina's ban on goods from central Serbia

Minister of Internal and External Trade of Serbia, Tomislav Momirovic, stated today that he had discussed several important topics with Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi and that the issue he emphasized and strived to keep on the surface concerned the ban on trade with goods from central Serbia on the territory of Kosovo, RTV reports.

"It is unacceptable for the EU to tolerate Pristina's ban on all goods produced in central Serbia. We have asked for this to be stopped immediately, for the ban to be lifted," Momirovic said.

He also emphasized that Pristina had been blocking the CEFTA Agreement for two years and that certain topics should not be a part of the political agenda.

"Trade, business, economy, these are things that must bring us together. We cannot put these topics as a part of the political agenda," Momirovic stated for Tanjug.

He added that he had found understanding from Varhelyi and expected progress on the issue of the ban.

He noted that, due to the events in Banjska, this time was not easy for Serbia.

"Many who are not usually favorable to us want to put this one act as a marker of policy implementation towards Serbia in the coming period. We have stressed that this is not acceptable to us, because Serbia has been a constructive partner in the negotiation process led by the EU with Pristina for 10 years, and this act cannot in any way be a key issue for negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina," Momirovic concluded.
