Nikola Jokic, recipient of an award for promoting the reputation of Serbia in the world
On the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic, this year's winner of the award for promoting Serbia's reputation in the world is one of the best NBA basketball players, Nikola Jokic, whose club Denver will fight for the title this season with the better of the duel between Boston and Miami.
As said in the statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this award was given on the occasion of the Day of Serbian Diplomacy.
"I received these awards mostly on the court, but if I contributed at least a little to the people in the world to start loving Serbia and seeing it as a friend, I think I did a nice thing for my country," our famous basketball player said, thanking the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Minister Ivica Dacic for the award.
The Day of Serbian Diplomacy is celebrated every year on May 29, the day on which the Prince's Office of Foreign Affairs, the forerunner of today's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was founded in 1839.
The award is given to our distinguished individuals who promote the reputation of Serbia in the world through their profession. Among athletes, before Nikola Jokic, Novak Djokovic received recognition on the occasion of the Day of Serbian Diplomacy in 2020.
