Nikolic: CEK's decision in Pristina illegal, Odalovic: Kurti attempts to demonize the Serb List
Danijela Nikolic, the President of the Parliamentary Committee for Kosovo and Metohija, declared today that the decision of the Central Election Commission in Pristina to deny the Serb List participation in the February 9 elections is illegal and added that she expects the international community to react this time and to stand on the side of justice. Veljko Odalovic, the President of the Commission for Missing Persons, also agrees, pointing out that Pristina has been demonizing the Serb List for two years and that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has the support of Albanians only in his actions against Serbs in northern Kosovo.
Nikolic told Tanjug that the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has indicated in his addresses that Prime Minister Kurti will try to remove the Serb List from the electoral race, in order to bring in new Serbs or other people he can manipulate and make decisions that are not in the interest of the Serbian people.
"The fact is that we again face a difficult path, but this time the ball is in the court of the international community, which should make a decisive move," Nikolic believes.
She emphasized that the Serb List operates in the interest of the Serbian people, which is why it bothers Kurti.
Asked who from the international community could help resolve this situation, Nikolic said that the entire international community should react this time.
According to her, this is not just a "barrier" for the Serb List, but also for the entire Serbian community in Kosovo who wants to vote for a list that preserves and protects national interests and which will fight for the national interest of Serbs in the parliament in Pristina.
"This then becomes a disputed right not only for the 48 candidates who are on this list, decent, honest people, carefully selected, but it is a barrier for the entire Serbian people," stressed Nikolic.
She expressed confidence that the Serb List will eventually participate in the elections and that in the end, the law, democracy, and justice will prevail.
Regarding the decision of the Central Election Commission in Pristina not to approve the Serb List's participation in the February 9 elections next year, Odalovic said that this decision is "suitable for domestic use" and that Kurti is afraid of the results of the upcoming elections, with the Serb List being the perpetual scapegoat before the Albanians.
"In the political public opinion, Kurti only has support in what he does in the north of AP Kosovo and Metohija, no one has reproached him, they haven’t told him not to do it, nor that it’s not good. As for all other matters, the area of Kosovo and Metohija is in a serious crisis, institutional, economic, and every other kind," Odalovic told TV Prva.
He noted that voices from other political parties in the area of Kosovo criticize Kurti, but not because of what he does to the Serbs in the north of the province, but because he is burning bridges with the West.
