Orlic: Pristina wants an open conflict; it terrorizes Serbs every day

The President of the National Assembly, Vladimir Orlic, met today with the outgoing Ambassador of Bangladesh, Mohammad Shamim Ahsan, with whom he discussed the situation in Kosovo and indicated that Serbia was committed to peace and stability in the region, but also that it demanded the implementation of the Brussels Agreement signed ten years ago, and to form the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities.

As reported by the National Assembly of Serbia, during the farewell visit of the Bangladesh Ambassador, Orlic pointed out that Pristina was a party that wanted to provoke a conflict.

According to the statement, Orlic indicated during the conversation that "Serbia is focused on preserving peace and stability, stating that the Pristina regime is terrorizing the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija every day, trying to lead to an open conflict, while violating all agreements and what is reached during the dialogue".

He pointed out that Pristina's moves were being condemned by numerous countries, and added that "it is important for Serbia that its friends to be well informed so that they can see and understand the situation in Kosovo and Metohija".

Ambassador Ahsan expressed his belief that a solution to the situation in Kosovo would be reached through dialogue and congratulated Serbia on the fact that today it carefully nurtured friendships with numerous traditional friends around the world.

"We will continue to advocate for the preservation of peace and stability for everyone so that we can dedicate ourselves to the development of our country, but also the entire region, and build a better future together," Orlic said.

The interlocutors assessed that the relations between the two countries were based on traditional friendship, which had been confirmed during decades of shared history, and agreed that these foundations should be further developed and raised to an even higher level today.

The President of the National Assembly pointed out the importance of the achieved political dialogue at the highest level, as well as the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Bangladesh during the previous year, when important agreements had been signed, adding that the Serbian Parliament was ready to contribute to the development of bilateral relations. He also pointed out that there was room for improvement of inter-parliamentary cooperation, through exchanges of visits by parliamentary delegations and closer connection of parliamentary friendship groups and working bodies of the two parliaments.

The interlocutors agreed that it was important to continue to work together to increase trade, as well as economic, agricultural, and industrial cooperation between Serbia and Bangladesh.
