The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, met with the German Ambassador to Serbia, Anke Konrad, and informed her about the course of the Belgrade–Pristina dialogue and the political and security situation in Kosovo, which, as he stated, Albin Kurti is undermining through his unilateral actions.

Petkovic emphasized that for Belgrade it is of key importance that all open issues be resolved through dialogue, and that the formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities must remain a priority in the talks. However, he noted that Pristina has been avoiding this obligation for twelve years.

“Belgrade is committed to implementing the Declaration on Missing Persons and treats this topic in Brussels with full attention, as for us it is a humanitarian, not a political issue. Yet, Pristina still shows no readiness to adequately engage in this process,” Petkovic stressed.

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija told his interlocutor that Serbs in Kosovo clearly expressed their will in the recently concluded local elections, particularly their desire for the municipalities in the north to be “returned to Serbian hands.” He added, however, that Albanian mayors continue to adopt, as he said, unlawful decisions in Serb-majority municipalities, which are illegal and detrimental to the Serbian people.

Petkovic also raised the issue of allowing the transport of Serbian goods through other administrative crossings in Kosovo, noting that there are still major traffic jams at Merdare, which is currently the only crossing where Serbian goods are permitted to pass.

He concluded that, unable to form a government in Pristina, Kurti continues to pursue unilateral actions and obstruct the dialogue, while Belgrade will continue to safeguard peace and stability despite these challenges.
