Petkovic with the Serbs from Kosovo: Necessary to preserve peace and stability for the survival of the Serbs

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, held a meeting tonight in Raska with political and institutional representatives of the Serbs from Kosovo. They discussed the political and security situation in the province, the necessity of preserving peace and stability for the survival and stay of the Serbs in Kosovo, as well as how to enable the Serbs to vote on December 17.

The focus was on the difficult situation and position of the Serbs north and south of the Ibar River and the infringement of their basic human rights due to institutional violence, persecution, and numerous escalatory moves initiated daily by Albin Kurti and the authorities in Pristina.

Petkovic talked with the representatives of the Serbs about the ban imposed by Pristina on organizing voting in the province for the elections scheduled for December 17, directly violating all guaranteed rights of the Serbs, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated.

The representatives of the Serbs from Kosovo said to Petkovic the importance of enabling the Serbs to exercise their right to vote.

In this regard, the meeting discussed further steps to allow the Serbs from Kosovo to exercise their civic right to vote on December 17.

"Furthermore, Director Petkovic informed the Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija about the latest round of dialogue in Brussels and the discussions initiated regarding the drafting of the Statute of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, as well as all other issues negotiated between Belgrade and Pristina within the Dialogue, the statement says.

The meeting also addressed financial aid, job opportunities, and further significant investments by the Republic of Serbia in the Kosovo region. It discussed Pristina's attempts to prohibit infrastructure and housing projects, as well as various forms of social assistance aimed at the most vulnerable population.

It is concluded, the statement adds, that the Republic of Serbia, led by President Aleksandar Vucic, will continue to support and fight for the interests of the Serbs in the southern Serbian province through robust political and economic measures.
