Rasic: CSM is an obligation; it is up to the Government to determine the form in which it will be done
The Minister for Communities and Returns in the Government of Kosovo, Nenad Rasic, said today that the formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities in Kosovo was an obligation that had to be fulfilled, but that it was up to the institutions to decide in what form it would be done, Koha reports.
"As I said before, in politics and institutions, you cannot cancel everything that happened in the previous mandate, which means that those obligations remain and those obligations must be respected. It is up to you in what form it will be - that's something else. The agreement from 2015, states that all these agreements must be in accordance with the Constitution and laws of Kosovo. For me, this is a good basis for the Government of Kosovo to work in that direction," Rasic said.
He stated that he believed that it would be possible to draft an idea of what the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities could be.
Speaking about the tensions of the past weeks in the north and the barricades, Rasic said that he believed that it was a maneuver, especially by the Serb List, which was supported by Belgrade, to ensure a more favorable position in terms of negotiations and agreements that should be reached during 2023 and which might not be final, but agreements that led the parties to a final agreement.
Rasic said that there were legal possibilities for the return of the Serbs to their jobs in the north, especially administrative staff, adding that the collective resignations of Serbs had been a mistake because Serbs had lost about 1,000 jobs.
"Those who gave such recommendations to the Serbs in the north made a mistake," he said.
