Former Democratic Alliance of Kosovo MP Naser Rugova says that the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities is clearly specified in the Brussels Agreement and the Ohrid Annex, and there is no compromise when it comes to its establishment, Gazeta Blic reports.

"First, the Brussels Agreement and the Ohrid Annex clearly specify that Kosovo should establish a Community of Serb-majority Municipalities. This is a part of the agreement that Kosovo has accepted, and there is no compromise here," Rugova stated in response to the statement by the President of the Kosovo Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, who said that the CSM would not be formed, and then said that the Kosovo Government could still draft a new plan for the formation of the CSM at some point.

According to Rugova, this was said for the purpose of the election campaign, and such statements with an electoral context, as he emphasized, weaken Kosovo in front of its allies.

"Confusing statements with an electoral context from government officials only weaken us in front of our friends and the international community," Rugova assesses.

He adds that so far, the government had to draft a final plan for the CSM, which would then be sent to the Constitutional Court.

"There is no room for improvisation and political games in this matter," he emphasizes.

He emphasizes that the statute of the CSM and the implementation of the constitutional decision for the Visoki Decani Monastery are conditions for Kosovo's accession to the Council of Europe.
