Spahiu: After the failure in Tirana, Kurti seeks power in Skopje
The former leader of the Red and Black Alliance from Tirana, Kreshnik Spahiu, told Euronews Albania that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, after failing to come to power in Albania, was trying to come to power in North Macedonia.
Commenting on Kurti's visit to Tetovo and Skopje, Spahiu said that the Prime Minister of Kosovo was trying to form an alliance with the opposition in North Macedonia.
"After he tried to overthrow the Government in Tirana, he is now trying to overthrow the Government in Skopje. Albin Kurti participated in the elections in Tirana and won 300 votes in the 2021 elections, so he openly sought power in Albania. When he saw that he didn’t succeed in this and that he had no support in Albania, he tried to create a political conflict by forming an alliance with the opposition in North Macedonia," he said.
He adds that the alliance that Kurti may have with Sali Berisha or an opposition factor in North Macedonia is not prohibited by law, but that it would be welcome if they had an alliance with all Albanian parties.
"The so-called patriotic party, such as Self-Determination, must have at its base an alliance of all Albanians over party interests, without distinction, socialist or democratic, in the government or in the opposition," Spahiu said.
