Sutanovac: Kurti is flexing his muscles which are insignificant in terms of military power

President of the Council for Strategic Policies and former Minister of Defense of Serbia, Dragan Sutanovac, assessed that the announcements of increasing the number of Kosovo Security Force members by Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti were merely a flex of muscles that were absolutely insignificant in terms of military power, but on the other hand, by endangering the security of the Serbs in the north, Kurti showed that he wanted them to leave Kosovo.

"There is no doubt that since Kurti announced that he would establish so-called police bases in northern Kosovo, he is actually creating military bases with the idea of converting them into some military force with which he apparently wants to gain support from a portion of the voters within Kosovo. This is certainly causing alarm and unrest among the citizens living in northern Kosovo, especially given that Kosovo faces no military threat", Sutanovac stated in an interview with Kosovo Online.

Yesterday, at the party assembly of the Self-Determination Movement Kurti announced that Kosovo would have 600 more KSF members and 500 more police officers next year compared to this year, and told party members to inform all activists and citizens that "they will not be able to stop them either in the south or in the north".

Commenting on Kurti's words, Sutanovac adds that no one from any country has announced that they will attack Kosovo with military forces.

"Instead of worrying about the safety of the citizens and increasing the number of criminal police to reduce organized crime in Kosovo, and thus in the entire region, Kurti is trying to flex his 'muscles', which are absolutely insignificant in terms of military power, which is insignificant. However, from the perspective of threatening the Serbs living in northern Kosovo and jeopardizing their security and constant harassment towards them, with a significant presence of people with long guns, he actually wants to show that he wants the Serbs to gather up and practically leave Kosovo and Metohija", Sutanovac believes.

He assesses that Kurti's intentions are clear and relate to the creation of the "Greater Albania" project.

"His whole story is very clear; he is not concerned with safety but rather with the 'Greater Albania' project that includes all the so-called Albanian lands. On the one hand, they have declared him the Prime Minister of all Albanians worldwide, but on the other hand, this excludes the Serbs living in Kosovo and Metohija, which he is comprehensively working on, and, unfortunately, only a small number of people understand this, not only in the world but even in Belgrade", Sutanovac emphasizes.

He points out that due to everything Kurti is announcing about increasing the number of KSF members, even using the term "soldiers" even though Kosovo officially does not have an army, he does not expect international reactions.

"I do not expect any reaction from international representatives. I think that the Banjska incident significantly contributed to Kurti's current pace, where he is forgiven for things that would not have been forgiven before the Banjska incident. Despite the international community's reaction regarding expropriation and the unlawful seizure of land that belongs to Serbian citizens, I do not believe that, in the end, there will be a necessary and firm reaction towards Kurti. It will take a long time for Serbia to regain the upper hand. I do not mean in relation to Kurti but in relation to the truth because the truth is on our side. However, as I said, that incident has completely disrupted relations and perceptions of the Serbs and Serbia in a good part of Europe", Sutanovac concludes.
