Szunyog called on Kosovo to lift the ban on the sale of Serbian products as soon as possible

The head of the European Union mission in Pristina, Tomas Szunyog, called on Kosovo's central authorities to lift the ban on the sale of goods from central Serbia as soon as possible, emphasizing that the European development plan involved progress and the free movement of people and goods, RTS reports.

At the European Investors Council (EIC) forum in Pristina, Tomas Szunyog stated that regional partners could greatly benefit from the development plan, but that there would be some additional conditions for Pristina and Belgrade to constructively engage with measurable progress and tangible results in normalizing the relations.

"In this regard, the free movement of goods, services, and workers is heavily featured in the development plan. Therefore, we encourage Kosovo to lift the ban on Serbian products as soon as possible," Tomas Szunyog said, as reported by the media in Pristina.

Szunyog noted that nearly 80 percent of foreign direct investment in Kosovo was directed towards real estate and emphasized the necessity of implementing development and sustainable investments, especially due to the brain drain.

"Higher salaries are not sufficient, as skilled individuals want to work in more developed countries. You should focus on your skills. The development of the private sector and sustainable economic growth is a prerequisite for progress in other parts of society. The EU is Kosovo's largest donor and has made financial assistance available to help Kosovo become more competitive, attractive for investments, and offer more jobs. In response, Kosovo must take care of its investors," the head of the EU mission in Pristina emphasized.
