The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Antonio Tajani, said, after a meeting with the Kosovo Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gervalla, that he sees as a positive gesture the decision of the Government of Kosovo to postpone for 48 hours the imposition of fines on cars that have not been re-registered, Telegrafi reports.

Tajani stated that Italy was ready to support both sides in finding a solution.

"We are committed to supporting peace, our goal is to solve problems and return prosperity, economic growth and civil well-being to this part of the Balkans. This is not a random visit. I want it to be a message that we are at your disposal to find a solution," said the Italian minister.

Tajani added that he received a message in Pristina about readiness for dialogue.

"In Pristina, I received a message about readiness for dialogue, we appreciated Kosovo's decision to postpone for 48 hours the imposition of fines. I never said that Kosovo was not ready for dialogue, I said that both sides have given a sign of readiness for dialogue. That's what I was told . It would be depressing if there is no readiness for dialogue on both sides," said Tajani and added that he considers the decision of the Kosovo government to wait another 48 hours for the implementation of the measure as a very positive one.

Tajani said that there is no need to create new problems in the Balkans because it had suffered enough and emphasized that they were considering organizing an event in Rome dedicated to the Balkans, to which they would invite all the leaders of the Balkans.

Kosovo's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gervalla, said that she and her Italian colleague discussed the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, the result of which, as she stated, could not be other than mutual recognition.

"We talked about the geopolitical situation in Europe and the region, about Serbia's efforts to destabilize Kosovo. We talked about the fact that the rule of law is a necessary answer and not only in our region. We also talked about the ongoing dialogue with Serbia, the dialogue by which we want to get a final result that cannot be different from mutual recognition. We talked about the fact that mistakes are often made in the dialogue and we assured him that the mistakes would not be repeated," said Gervalla.

Gervalla stated that Tajani was an old friend of Kosovo and a sworn European and stated that she discussed with the Italian minister the Kosovo's progress in the field of economy, common European values, institutional reform which is the primary agenda, significant increase in investments in Kosovo.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Antonio Tajani, and the Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, arrived in Kosovo today during the day. It is expected that the Italian delegation will also meet with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albina Kurti.
