Ulutas: The path to lasting stability is political, not military

KFOR Commander Major General Ozkan Ulutas said that long-term stability in Kosovo and the region cannot be achieved through military presence alone, but requires political solutions.

"Although KFOR continues to make a significant military contribution, the path to lasting stability is political, not military," Ulutas told Telegrafi.

He noted that NATO continues to fully support the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, facilitated by the European Union.

"NATO continues to fully support the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, facilitated by the EU, as a framework for resolving outstanding issues while respecting the rights of all communities," the KFOR commander said toward the end of his second mandate in Kosovo.

In a recent interview with Kosovo Online, Ulutas also said, among other things, that KFOR maintains its security mandate and will continue to implement it fully and impartially, taking into account the concerns of all communities in Kosovo, including the Serbian community, and that NATO has supported peace and stability in the Western Balkans since the 1990s, with KFOR being a concrete demonstration of the Alliance's efforts in this regard.
