Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Milos Vucevic stated today that if Ukraine were to recognize the independence of Kosovo, it would create a bigger problem for itself than for Serbia, as in that case, it would lack credibility to defend the sovereignty of its own state, RTV reported.

As he said on Prva TV, Serbia considers Ukraine a friendly state, which hasn't recognized Kosovo and has always been respectful of Serbia's sovereignty.

Commenting on the letter recently sent by 50 Western politicians to officials of the US, EU, and Great Britain, urging them to take a more critical position toward the authorities in Belgrade, Vucevic says that there will be many more such letters, and he sees it as evidence that Serbia is on the right path and that President Aleksandar Vucic is pursuing good policies.

"We apologize to them for not handing over Kosovo and Metohija on a platter, for not relinquishing a part of our state, we apologize for respecting Bosnia and Herzegovina and preserving Republika Srpska in accordance with the Dayton Agreement and the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are obligated to protect Republika Srpska according to the Dayton Agreement. We apologize for being militarily neutral and for pursuing an independent policy, for being on the European path, and for not wanting to sever ties with countries with whom we have a traditional friendship," Vucevic said.

Regarding the ban on Serbian product imports to Kosovo that has been in effect for two months, Vucevic says that Prime Minister Albin Kurti has taken a step further.

"The Prime Minister of the temporary institutions in Pristina, Albin Kurti, is receiving certain sanctions, but now he's going a step further, he's nullifying companies and business entities that are registered in Pristina according to their legislation, according to the rules of the temporary institutions, just because they use the word 'Serbia,' as is the case with MTS, and they have announced further abolitions," Vucevic said.

He adds that by dismantling companies in Kosovo, Pristina authorities are putting people in a situation where they are left without jobs, medicine, food, telephone signal, and television signal, and in this way, they are pushing the Serbian people in Kosovo back to the 17th century.

"Everything Kurti does is aimed at ethnically cleansing Kosovo and Metohija of Serbs. That's his political agenda: no agreements, no accords, no CSM, no implementation of agreements reached so far," Vucevic emphasized, adding that the "scenario Kurti that wants, where Serbia and the NATO pact conflict and he becomes some sort of Zelensky," must be avoided.

He emphasized that Serbs in Kosovo must be assisted "in every way."
