Defense Minister Milos Vucevic said today that "a stronger, better equipped and more numerous Serbian Army is a factor that keeps us away from possible conflicts", Nova reports.

Vucevic told TV B92 that "when you have a strong army, you are not easy prey, and you are no one's punching bag", which, according to him, was one of the reasons why the crisis in the north of Kosovo, when the Serbs set up barricades on the roads as a sign of protest due to the arrest of former members of the Kosovo Police of Serbian nationality, ended without conflict.

According to him, the crisis in the north of Kosovo ended without violent attempts by the authorities in Pristina to remove the barricades, and because of the "firm policy" which is "personified" by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and because of the "unity of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, who were peacefully and democratically defending their human rights and freedoms".

"The Serbian Army is positioned so that Serbia clearly tells everyone that there are 'red lines'," said Vucevic and added that this means that there can no longer be operations like "Lighting Operation" and "Storm Operation" during which Serbs were expelled from Croatia in the 1990s of the last century, "no new program of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija".

According to him, "everything else can and should be at the negotiating table, but there are no new refugee columns".
