The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, pointed out that tonight, at the Government session, a unanimous decision was made to submit the request for the return of Serbian security forces to Kosovo in an electronic form tonight, and tomorrow morning at the administrative crossing and formally to the KFOR command.

"The request is in accordance with UN Resolution 1244 to return a certain number in hundreds up to thousand to Kosovo. The decision was made unanimously respecting for international law," Vucic explained, who attended the Government session at the Prime Minister's invitation.

Vucic told RTS that at this moment it would be important for the Serbian security forces to return for the protection of the Serbian population and above all for what is provided for in UN Resolution 1244, which is control at the crossings. "That would be a good decision. But we are almost certain, based on all statements made so far, that it will not be accepted, but we are waiting to see," he said.

Vucic reminded that this was the first time that the Serbian government had made such a decision, on his initiative.

He pointed out that there were claims that Zoran Djindjic's government had done it in 2003, but he added that then Prime Minister Djindjic had made a political move and sent a letter to the UN Security Council, but without a formal request.
