Vucic: I am shocked by Stano's statement; Serbs will show unity and that we cannot be trampled upon
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic emphasized that Serbia was in a difficult situation but that the will of Kosovo Serbs was not to participate in the elections in the north.
During a press conference at the "Granite 2023" military capabilities demonstration, Vucic said that he had been shocked by the statement of EU Spokesperson Peter Stano.
"I was shocked today when I heard Stano's statement. I will try once again to explain so that people are not misled. We have participated in 4 or 5 different election cycles organized by the Pristina authorities. We should not have participated in any of them until the formation of the CSM, or at least one of them, after which it would be clear which are the Serbian municipalities, even though we have already defined them. Ten years later, and it is not only Pristina's fault but also the fault of the European Union, which guaranteed the implementation of the Brussels Agreement. They signed it, Catherine Ashton put her signature there. They did not implement it. And after nine and a half years, the Serbs, who have been shot at, harassed, and intimidated, say that they will not participate until you implement what you have signed," Vucic said.
He reiterated that it is a shame that the elections in the north are held in police stations and containers and that 550 armed men are securing one or two hundred voters.
"I call on Serbs to show them how united we are, that they cannot trample on us, and that Serbia is not a pushover. You gave them visa liberalization, you gave them membership in the Council of Europe, and you rewarded them with elections to set up occupation Gauleiters in four municipalities in the north. Albin Kurti himself will manage the municipality in Leposavic, and there are 60 Albanians there," Vucic said.
He said that Kosovo is only interested in independence and humiliating Serbia.
"Ain't gonna happen, as our soldiers from Toplica and southern Serbia would say," Vucic concluded.
He added that Serbs in Kosovo will remain peaceful after the elections as well.
"Tomorrow they will watch those who will be brought from Southern Mitrovica to elect their government with calm, responsibility, and contempt. After that, there will be complete occupation. We will continue to pay salaries, raise living standards, and wait for better times when international law will be respected," Vucic said.
When asked what he would ask for at the upcoming meeting on May 2 in Brussels, Vucic replied that he no longer knew what he could ask for.
"I don't feel like talking to them anymore because they lied about everything they told me," Vucic concluded.
