Vucic: Kurti requests sanctions against Serbia every day while continuing to endanger the Serbs
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated today that Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti called for sanctions against Serbia every day and ironically questioned whether his demand for security guarantees for Kosovo also applied to the Serbs who were endangered every day.
"He talks about this every day and sends new special units of the Kosovo Police to the Serbs every day. He asks for it every day, but I'm not sure if everyone is thrilled with him," Vucic said from Beijing.
As he points out, when you have the need to attack someone every day, it means you have a problem.
When asked to comment on French President Emmanuel Macron's statement that visa liberalization for Kosovo remained an open question because Kosovo had not taken the steps towards de-escalation in the north that the EU and the US demanded, Vucic said he did not want to comment on that.
"Thanks to Macron for many other things. Regarding his request for us to condemn the events in Banjska - we did it on the same day. I kindly ask the French Ambassador to Serbia, Mr. Cochard, to send him several of those statements. I think I told him that as well. For us, it is important to try to resolve things through dialogue," the President of Serbia stated.
Stating that the "Big Five" from the EU, France, Germany, Italy, and the US are coming to Belgrade on October 21st, Vucic says they will probably bring their own ideas.
"I've heard something, but I will talk about it when I see it, study it, and then we will react and inform the public," he said.
After the meeting with the "Big Five", there will be a UN Security Council session on Kosovo, and the President says that it is still under consideration whether Ana Brnabic, Ivica Dacic, or he will travel to New York.
"Let's see how significant it is, how important it is at this moment. In October, there is a meeting of EU ministers, we will definitely be one of the topics," he said.
Commenting on Kurti's statement that he brought a document to Tirana yesterday, which Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic refused to sign, Vucic says that Kurti every time brings a paper that no one wants to sign.
"He says he brought a declaration of peace, just forgets to say that only sovereign and independent states can sign the declaration and that if someone signs it, it means recognizing Kosovo's independence," he emphasized.
He says those are Kurti's tricks to make it look like Serbia is against peace.
"He says a declaration of peace, and it sounds nice. Serbia is not against peace, unlike him, but it will not recognize an independent Kosovo. He thinks of those tricks all day, I don't know where he can get away with it. He thinks we are naive passers-by whom he can trick, but he can't," Vucic said.
He believes that the Summit within the Berlin Process, held yesterday in Tirana, went well.
"Ana Brnabic acted wisely; she didn't want to argue at all costs, not because she didn't want to, but because she assessed it well. Others came to fight against Serbia, but we don't do that. Even today, when we talk about measures against Pristina, I don't want to celebrate or comment, and they live for Belgrade to be punished. They tell this to international partners they have business with," Vucic said.
